Cake balls…

Has anyone made any yet? Apparently it’s a thing, and I’m late to the table. However, I am totally stoked to give it a shot and I have a lot of cake ball flavor combinations in mind.

I’m also planning on trying my hand at Mod Podge. Always accepting cool ideas.

If you had known at 18….

My little sister turns 18 tomorrow. While I remember what a big deal it was to turn eighteen myself, I am really surprised at what an impact her birthday is having on me. We have a rather large age gap, (14 years) and so I was always more parental in my role than sisterly. Our mom went off the beaten path a few times and my sister lived with me a good portion of her youth. She was even living with me during my first pregnancy and birth.

Anyway, I am really affected by having witnessed the evolution of a child to adult. I can only imagine what this will feel like when it really is my own. I think part of the sadness for me is part mourning my own girls growth. My sister’s went by so quick, and I think this is only reminding me how quickly it goes. I feel these pains all the time as my littlest adds more words to her vocabulary, and moves closer to being potty trained. But, this is different. This is the whole marathon coming to an end.

Anyway, I am working on a letter/card to mark this milestone and want to offer some words of wisdom that I would have liked to had when I was 18 (not that I would have listened). While I am guilty of being a know it all - I am drawing a blank.

So far I have - make sure the pleasures of youth don’t bring you pain in your old age.

Do you have anything you wish you would have known at 18?

I wish…

I knew how to get my girls to not try and drink the bath water. I have tried in many different ways to explain how gross this really is - nothing works. Have something that worked for you? Please share.

Sincerely,

Grossed out mom

Isn’t it counterproductive to drink coffee immediately after using teeth whitening strips? Hmm…oh well.

When did I become…

So gross?! I wore the oldest, ugliest t-shirt to the gym - complete with beach spots. I look like hammered ass all the time - for the last 3 years! My poor husband.

Have regular hours for work and play;make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life will become a beautiful success.
